Usually when I color on photoshop I have the biggest problem with shading. My shading is usually too soft and not really noticable in the final product. I tried a bolder style on this one and attempted to follow some tutorials for the hair coloring.
I would love suggestions. And if anyone would like to add a background to this, it would be awesome.
man i always have problems with the soft shading too. :/ one tip that i haven't tried yet is to shade with a different color from the same family? like on her shirt instead of just shading with a darker green, shade with a darker blue green. or something. lol i'm kinda vague 'cause i haven't explored it yet; maybe when i try i'll have better suggestions. n_n;
You colored her!! I think the hair and the bandage turned out wonderful!! I like this shading. It seems to bring everything out more. I wish I could give more helpful tips, but I don't know all that much about what to do.
Hey, cool! Great job on the hair! My only critique is that you should be braver in making your shading more distinct I think a little more contrast would do nicely. But you're off to an amazing start, keep going!
I like the bolder shading. The hair looks very nice! I like the update to her wardrobe, as well.
Don't be afraid to be REALLY bold with your shading. I use at least 3 additional darker colors for shading and 3 additional lighter colors for highlighting per flat-color. The more colors and the more variance in lightness/darkness, the more 3-d your art will look.
Try to remember to have a consistent light source. It will make the image as a whole look more together. You might also want to add more shading on the hair directly behind the body, because the body shades that hair from the light source.
I really enjoy the little details you've added! The patch on her pants, the swirls on her shirt...they make those areas stand out!
I just drew her. I'll try to color her, but I'm really busy right now. I'll try to scan and post the lineart to my art-journal soon.
Sorry for lack of tact/messed-up grammar. I am so wiped out right now. :/
When is enough enough... What difference does it make when popular artist vent vent vent and support a site that tolerates deviant behaviour. HA! no wonder its all in a name.
